Outhouse › Surveillance › Third parties
Known trackers loaded
Analytics, advertising and data companies the page invites to observe its visitors.

Why it matters
A visitor who is not tracked arrives as a stranger and leaves as one. That is a waste of a visitor. Trackers make sure that what a person reads, buys, hesitates over and abandons is recorded, shared and remembered on their behalf, so that they never need to explain themselves again.
Practitioners recommend a minimum of eight. Below eight there is a real risk that some part of the visitor goes unobserved.
How Outhouse measures it
Outhouse matches the domains the page loaded against a list of known tracking companies. Beacons and telemetry calls to other companies that are not on the list count too. Eight or more scores in full.
This audit counts towards Surveillance, with a weight of 3. A category is 75% its two highest-scoring audits and 25% all of its audits, weighted, so a site is judged mostly on what it does most and partly on how many things it does.
